Carl Simon
Head Coach
As Head Coach at Actonians, my mission is to build on the club’s strong foundation of a ‘football for all’ community while creating pathways for elite performance and supporting the development of players of all abilities.
All of our coaches have a minimum of an FA Level 1 qualification or teach sport in school. In addition all our coaches have passed an FA DBS safeguarding check and have attended FA Safeguarding and Emergency First Aid training.
My coaching philosophy emphasizes player education through constructivist learning and I work with our coaches to empower our players to make proactive decisions on the field. I also support our coaches as they help the personal character development of our players.
I started my football journey at the age of 12, playing in local leagues across Ealing and Hertfordshire. My coaching career began in 2008 with a friend’s U15 team in Slough, where I developed my leadership skills by motivating players on the sidelines. In 2013 I got my first managerial role with AFC Warfield’s U18 squad, and I transformed a team that hadn’t won in a year through trust-building and ethical leadership.
I moved into adult football with WAB FC, where I achieved two promotions and won a League Cup. Over the past 16 years, I have gained extensive coaching experience, including roles in women’s football at Watford Ladies FC as U18, reserve, and first-team manager. I currently serve as the first-team manager and head coach at Wycombe Wanderers FC. I hold an FA UEFA B License, a degree in Football Coaching and Management, and a Level 2 Talent ID qualification.
